Emmett (Scott Glenn) only wanted to pick up his brother Jake (Kevin Costner) so they can reunite with family. Along the way he meets Paden (Kevin Kline) and Mal (Danny Glover) and together they set off for Silverado to see their families and seek their fortunes. However, when they arrive in the dusty town they discover it is in the grasp of a greedy rancher (Ray Baker) and an unscrupulous sheriff (Brian Dennehy) who are not above using intimidation and violence to get what they want.
