A joint US/Soviet crew journey to Jupiter to solve the mysteries behind the failed Discovery mission in 2010, the sequel to 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY.
In the midst of a possible international incident which could escalate to full out war between nations, a joint Russian and American crew travel to Jupiter to investigate the failed Jupiter mission of 2001. Drs. Heywood Floyd (Roy Scheider), Walter Curnow (John Lithgow) and R. Chandra (Bob Balaban) are tasked with finding the answers on board the Discovery without raising the suspicions of the Soviet crew lead by Tanya Kirbuk (Helen Mirren). However, upon their arrival events beyond comprehension begin to occur and the two crews are forced to worked together to unravel this new mystery.
